How much does a destination wedding in Turkey cost in 2026?

A destination wedding in Turkey in 2026 typically runs €12,000–45,000, depending on guest count, venue and service level. The official civil marriage — the legal act itself — starts from around €350. These are two separate line items, and the second one is not optional if you want a marriage that travels home with you.

The question the internet answers in halves

Search for a wedding in Turkey and you get two entirely different internets. One is run by planners: beautiful venues, per-person packages, price ranges — and near silence on the paperwork. The other is run by law firms: certificates, apostilles, witnesses — and no idea what any of it costs.

So couples end up with a venue quote and no legal plan, or a document checklist and no budget. The two halves interact. Your ceremony date depends on when your file clears. Your venue deposit is at risk if it doesn't. Planning them as one project is the whole job.

Budget one: the celebration, priced by guest count

Guest count is the dominant variable — more than city, more than season. Every other number in your budget is really a multiple of how many people you fly in. Three realistic tiers for 2026:

Package Guests Estimated cost (EUR)
Intimate 20–30 5,000–8,000
Mid-range, all-in 30–100 15,000–32,500
Luxury 100+ 34,500–72,000+

Note what the tiers do at the edges. An intimate wedding of 20–30 guests lands well below the headline €12,000 range — a small guest list is the single most powerful cost lever you have, and it works before you negotiate a single supplier. At the top, the luxury tier has no real ceiling; €72,000+ is where the published ranges stop, not where spending does.

Where the money actually goes

The individual line items, in euros, approximate:

Item Estimated cost (EUR)
Venue 2,000–8,000
Catering 50–250 per person
Photography 1,200–2,800
Decor 800–5,000
Planning 1,500–5,000

Catering is the line that scales with your guest list, and its range is a factor of five. That spread — €50 to €250 a head — is where mid-range budgets quietly become luxury ones. At 80 guests, the difference between the bottom and top of that range is €16,000, which is more than an entire intimate wedding. Decide the menu before you decide the guest list, or the guest list will decide the menu for you.

Budget two: the legal marriage, and what €350 buys

The civil marriage starts from around €350. That figure is small enough that couples skim past it, which is a mistake — the cost is trivial, the process is not.

The documents

As a foreign national you need: a valid passport, a certificate of no impediment (single-status certificate, valid around six months), a birth certificate, and a mandatory medical report. All of it with certified translation and attestation.

The stamps

Documents from your home country need sworn translation into Turkish, notarisation before a Turkish notary (Noter), and an apostille. This is the step that consumes calendar time rather than money, and it happens in your home country — which means it is the part your Turkish venue cannot help you with and the part you should start first.

The conditions

The marriage takes place at the municipal marriage office (Evlendirme Dairesi). You must be 18 or over, you need two witnesses, notarised single-status documents, and a medical report. A religious ceremony alone carries no legal weight in Turkey.

Recognition back home: check before you book

An official, documented civil marriage in Turkey is internationally recognised. But recognition and registration are different things — check the attestation requirements in your own country before you travel, not after you land back home with a Turkish certificate and a question.

The most expensive mistake in a destination wedding is not the venue. It is a religious-only ceremony with no civil registration — a wedding that happened everywhere except on paper.

Choosing your city

Four cities carry the market, and they are not interchangeable:

  • Istanbul — historic grandeur. Bosphorus palaces, five-star hotels, yachts, gardens. The choice when the setting is the statement.
  • Antalya — beach weddings with resort infrastructure behind them.
  • Bodrum — the coastal alternative, more relaxed in register.
  • Cappadocia — the balloon backdrop. Nowhere else photographs like it.

Pick the city for the photographs you want and the flights your guests can actually make. If your guest list is arriving from several countries, our travel guide to Turkey 2026 covers the entry side of the trip. And if you or your spouse intend to stay on afterwards, that is a separate process — see our guide to the Turkish residence permit.

Istanbul venues, in numbers

Five-star hotel packages start from around €110 per person. Palace venues start from around €290 per person. A Bosphorus yacht charter starts from around $200 for two hours. The gap between a hotel ballroom and a palace is roughly €180 a head — at 100 guests, €18,000. That single decision can move you a whole tier.

Why the numbers work here

Turkey runs roughly 30–50% below comparable European destinations at the same level of luxury. That is the entire commercial argument, and it holds because the infrastructure is genuinely there rather than improvised: hotels, venues, convention centres and professional planning at every price point.

Corporate events and MICE

The same infrastructure serves business. Istanbul has convention centres, exhibition venues, and more than 220 four- and five-star hotels — enough capacity for regional corporate events, product launches, exhibitions and conferences without compromise on venue or delegate accommodation.

The logic mirrors the wedding side: planning, logistics and on-the-ground coordination, priced below Western European equivalents for the same standard.

Where the savings actually are

  • Book outside peak season. Summer carries a premium on venues. Shifting the date is free; shifting the venue is not.
  • Consolidate suppliers into one package to avoid the scattered fees that appear when six vendors each bill separately.
  • Fix your price in hard currency to insulate the budget from lira movement between deposit and event day.

Notice that all three are decisions, not negotiations. They cost nothing to take and they are worth more than any discount you will argue for later.

One package: event, travel, stay, transfers

The structural advantage is having one party responsible for all of it — the venue, the legal file, the hospitality, plus your guests' flights, accommodation and transfers. Not because coordination is glamorous, but because a destination wedding split across six suppliers in a country you do not live in is where budgets and timelines quietly break.
