Flights to Turkey from Saudi Arabia and the Gulf 2026: Routes, Prices and Your Legal Rights
Flights to Turkey from Saudi Arabia and the Gulf: each route's distance and duration, today's fare range, and what your airline owes you if delayed
Flights to Turkey from Saudi Arabia and the Gulf come in three layers: a fixed route with a distance, a duration and an arrival airport; a fare that moves hourly; and a written legal right that appears when the flight is delayed or cancelled. The six rows below compress all three into sourced figures with their read dates.
| Item | What the source states |
|---|---|
| Shortest documented route | Jeddah to Istanbul: about three hours and thirty-five minutes non-stop |
| Only officially published distance | Dammam to Istanbul, 2,474 kilometres, stated by the carrier |
| Fare range seen in search results today | From SAR 258 one way to SAR 1,802 return on a direct full-service flight |
| Statutory compensation when a claim is valid | EUR 400 for the 1,500 to 3,500 kilometre band |
| Its lira value on the day of payment | TRY 22,510.64 at the euro selling rate 56.2766 in Central Bank bulletin 2026/171 |
| The condition most passengers never read | Check-in at least forty-five minutes before the announced departure time |
Flights to Turkey from Saudi Arabia are sold on a page-one search result that is entirely booking engines. They all give you a moving price and say nothing else. This guide inverts that order. It starts with what does not move: the published distance of each route, its duration, and the airport you actually land at. Then it sets out the compensation a Turkish regulation in force obliges an airline to pay you when your flight is delayed or cancelled, with the exact figures. Only then does it record the fare range observed in live search results on 12 September 2026. Every number here is attributed to its source and the date it was read, and where no official source exists we left the number out and said so.
Flights to Turkey from Saudi Arabia: what the fares looked like today
We hold no price list, and nobody holds a fixed one for a market that moves hourly. What follows is a record of what search results and the Google flight panel displayed on 12 September 2026. Treat it as a range, not a quote.
| Observed on 12 September 2026 | Figure as displayed |
|---|---|
| Lowest one-way fare on page one | SAR 258 |
| Common return range on page one | About SAR 300 to SAR 750 |
| Jeddah to Istanbul, non-stop | From SAR 662 |
| Istanbul to Riyadh, non-stop | From SAR 608 |
| Dammam to Istanbul, non-stop | From SAR 795 |
| Highest direct fare seen, Dammam route | SAR 1,802 |
How much is a flight ticket from Saudi Arabia to Turkey
The lowest figure on page one on the day of observation was SAR 258 one way on the Riyadh route with a low-cost carrier. The highest direct figure was SAR 1,802 return on the Dammam route with a full-service carrier. The gap is not a quality gap; it is a gap of timing, baggage allowance and change flexibility.
Turkey ticket price from Saudi Arabia and flights to turkey from saudi arabia price
The range that recurred across several page-one sources was roughly SAR 300 to SAR 750 return in economy, with peaks well above that in high season. Booking date moves the number more than the airline name does.
Cheap flights to turkey from saudi arabia
The cheapest figures always come from low-cost carriers and from flexible dates. One comparison tool showed on the day of observation that September is the cheapest month on the Jeddah route at SAR 747 return, with January and July the most expensive, while February is the cheapest on the Riyadh route at SAR 744, with May and March the most expensive. The cheapest month is not the same on both routes, which is the detail generic guides always miss.
Flights to turkey from saudi arabia today
Same-day fares are the most volatile part of this market, because a fare is a seat bucket rather than a single price. When the cheapest bucket sells out, the display moves to the next one. That is why the price can change between two searches on the same day with no change to the flight.
Flights by airline
Turkish airlines flights to turkey from saudi arabia
Turkish Airlines is a Turkish carrier, and that fact is not cosmetic. Carrier nationality is what decides whether the Turkish passenger rights regulation protects your outbound leg at all, as the rights section below explains.
International flights to turkey from saudi arabia
Six carriers appeared across the Gulf routes on the day of observation: Saudi full-service and low-cost carriers, and three Turkish carriers. Kuwaiti carriers serve the Kuwait route alongside the Turkish ones.
Low-cost versus full-service
The lowest figures came from low-cost carriers. Compare the total, not the headline: a cheap fare plus a paid checked bag can exceed a full-service fare that includes one.
Direct Gulf routes and the airport you actually land at

Table of Gulf routes to Istanbul with distance, duration and arrival airport
Istanbul has two operating airports, not one, and which one you land at can change your journey to the hotel by an hour. Low-cost carriers mostly land at Sabiha Gokcen on the Asian side; full-service carriers mostly at Istanbul Airport on the European side. flynas states on both its Jeddah and Dammam route pages that its arrivals are into Sabiha Gokcen. Check the airport code on your ticket before you book the hotel, not after. The full comparison is in our Istanbul airport guide and airport to city centre transfer guide.
Beyond Istanbul, the Turkish destinations that recurred in live results were Trabzon, Antalya, Ankara and Izmir. If the destination rather than the ticket is still open, start from our Turkiye travel guide and Istanbul travel guide.
Jeddah to Istanbul: distance, duration and carriers
flynas states on its route page that the flight distance from Jeddah to Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport is roughly 1,445 miles, and that the non-stop flight takes about three hours and thirty-five minutes. Both figures are the carrier's own statement, read live on 12 September 2026.
The Google flight panel on the same day showed four non-stop options on this route, with durations between three hours and forty minutes and three hours and fifty minutes, and fares from SAR 662 to SAR 1,118.
Riyadh to Istanbul and the return leg
Non-stop durations on this route ran between three hours and forty minutes and three hours and fifty minutes in both directions on the day of observation. The lowest one-way figure on page one was SAR 258; the lowest return figure with a full-service carrier was SAR 1,313 for early October.
On the return leg, Istanbul to Riyadh, the fastest non-stop option shown was three hours and forty minutes, and the lowest direct fare was SAR 608. One connecting option exceeded eight hours and forty-five minutes for SAR 1,247, which is a useful reminder to read the duration column before the price column.
Dammam to Istanbul
flynas states that the direct flight distance from Dammam to Istanbul is 2,474 kilometres, about 1,537 miles, that the flight takes four hours and fifteen minutes outbound and three hours and fifty-five minutes on the way back, and that arrivals are into Sabiha Gokcen.
The fastest non-stop option in live results on the day of observation was four hours and five minutes. Direct fares ran from SAR 795 to SAR 1,802; connecting options exceeded eight hours and forty minutes and, in one case, fourteen hours and fifty minutes.
Kuwait to Istanbul
The average non-stop duration from Kuwait International Airport to either Istanbul airport shown in live results was about three hours and fifty minutes. The lowest fare seen was around forty-three Kuwaiti dinars one way with a low-cost carrier. Two Kuwaiti carriers and two Turkish carriers serve the route.
Trabzon routes from the Gulf
Trabzon is the second most searched Turkish destination from the Gulf after Istanbul, and most Gulf routes to it connect rather than fly direct. That is why its fares show higher and its journeys longer: the Arabic AI Overview on the day of observation showed Trabzon from SAR 1,303 against SAR 963 for Istanbul, a gap that reflects the stop rather than the distance. Some seasonal non-stop services operate from Riyadh; check the word direct against your exact date rather than the month. If Trabzon is genuinely the destination, start from our guides to Trabzon's attractions and Trabzon hotels.
Saudi to Turkey flight time: the short answer
| Route | Published distance | Non-stop duration | Arrival airport |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jeddah to Istanbul | About 1,445 miles (carrier statement) | About three hours and thirty-five minutes | Sabiha Gokcen |
| Dammam to Istanbul | 2,474 kilometres (carrier statement) | Four hours and fifteen minutes out, three hours and fifty-five minutes back | Sabiha Gokcen |
| Riyadh to Istanbul | Not published by the carrier as of 12 September 2026 | Three hours and forty to fifty minutes in live results | Both airports served |
| Kuwait to Istanbul | Not published by the carrier as of 12 September 2026 | About three hours and fifty minutes in live results | Both airports served |
We did not invent the two missing distances. Where a carrier has not published a figure, the row says so.
Your rights when a flight is delayed or cancelled
This is the section no booking engine carries. Turkiye regulates air passenger rights through a regulation known as SHY-YOLCU, issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and amended in the Official Gazette of 10 December 2024, issue 32748. We read the full text live on 12 September 2026. Here is what applies to you.
When compensation is due
The regulation gives you a right in three situations: denied boarding despite a confirmed reservation, cancellation, and delay. The delay thresholds that trigger care are two hours for domestic flights and flights up to 1,500 kilometres, three hours for flights between 1,500 and 3,500 kilometres, and four hours above 3,500 kilometres. Under the clause added by the December 2024 amendment, if a flight is delayed for technical or operational reasons and you reach your final destination three hours or more late, the airline is immediately bound by the compensation and refund obligations together.
How much, exactly

The four compensation bands under article 8 of the Turkish passenger rights regulation
| Flight type and distance band | Compensation stated in the regulation |
|---|---|
| Domestic flight within Turkiye | EUR 100 |
| International flight up to 1,500 km | EUR 250 |
| International flight between 1,500 and 3,500 km | EUR 400 |
| International flight above 3,500 km | EUR 600 |
Gulf routes to Istanbul sit in the middle band. The only officially published distances on these routes are 2,474 kilometres from Dammam and about 1,445 miles from Jeddah, both inside the 1,500 to 3,500 kilometre band, which means EUR 400.
The same article states that the lira equivalent is calculated at the Turkish Central Bank foreign exchange selling rate on the day of payment. At the euro selling rate in Central Bank bulletin 2026/171 of 11 September 2026, which is 56.2766 lira, EUR 400 equals TRY 22,510.64, or about SAR 1,742 at the Saudi riyal selling rate in the same bulletin. The lira figure changes on your payment date; the euro figure is what the regulation fixes.
The airline may reduce the compensation by fifty per cent if it offers you rerouting that gets you there within two, three or four hours of the original arrival time, depending on the band.
The trap that changes your right: direction, not price
The scope is set in article 2, and it draws a line most passengers never see:
- A Turkish carrier is covered on flights to and from Turkish airports. Both your legs are protected.
- A foreign carrier is covered on flights from Turkish airports only. Your return is protected; your outbound is not.
In practice: if you fly Jeddah to Istanbul on a non-Turkish carrier and the outbound is delayed, this regulation does not apply to that flight, and the reference is the departure state's own regime and its civil aviation authority. The return from Istanbul is covered whichever airline you fly. If you choose a Turkish carrier, both legs are covered. That single detail can be worth EUR 400, and no booking page mentions it.
The forty-five minute condition
Article 2 conditions these rights on your having presented for check-in at the time the airline stated in writing, or, where none was stated, at least forty-five minutes before the announced departure time. A passenger who arrives later than that loses the ability to rely on the regulation even if the flight genuinely was delayed.
What must be given to you free of charge while you wait

Duty of care table under article 10 of the Turkish passenger rights regulation
| Waiting time | What the regulation obliges the airline to provide at no cost |
|---|---|
| Two to three hours | Hot and cold drinks in reasonable measure |
| Three to five hours | Hot and cold drinks plus breakfast or a meal according to the time of day |
| Five hours or more | Drinks and a meal, plus further drinks and an additional light snack |
| One or more nights | Hotel or suitable accommodation, and transport between the airport and the accommodation |
On top of that, the airline must let you make two telephone calls, fax messages or emails free of charge with no time limit. Passengers with reduced mobility, their companions and unaccompanied children are owed particular care.
Refund or rerouting
On cancellation or denied boarding, you choose between three options: a full refund of the ticket for the unflown portion within seven days, together with a free return flight to your original point of departure where relevant; rerouting to your final destination at the earliest opportunity; or rerouting at a later date of your choosing, subject to seat availability.
Downgrading
If the airline seats you in a lower class than you bought, it owes you the fare difference plus a percentage of the ticket price within seven days: thirty per cent up to 1,500 kilometres, fifty per cent between 1,500 and 3,500 kilometres, and seventy-five per cent above 3,500 kilometres. If it upgrades you, it may not charge you anything extra.
When compensation is not due
If the airline proves the cancellation was caused by extraordinary circumstances despite all reasonable measures, it owes no compensation. The regulation names political instability, unsuitable meteorological conditions, natural disasters, security risks, unexpected flight safety shortcomings and strikes as examples. The burden of proving that you were notified of a cancellation, and when, rests on the airline, not on you.
Can I travel from Saudi Arabia to Turkey: the visa rule before the ticket
A common mistake is to book the ticket and then discover the visa condition. The correct order is the reverse. What follows is taken from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs visa information page, read live on 12 September 2026.
| Country | Position under the official text |
|---|---|
| Saudi Arabia | Ordinary and official passport holders are exempt up to 90 days in any 180-day period |
| Kuwait | Official and ordinary passport holders are exempt up to 90 days within the last 180 days |
| Qatar | Diplomatic, service, special and ordinary passport holders are exempt for tourism and transit up to 90 days within six months from first entry |
| United Arab Emirates | Ordinary and official passport holders are exempt up to 90 days in any 180-day period |
| Oman | Ordinary and official passport holders are exempt up to 90 days in any 180-day period |
| Bahrain | Ordinary passport holders are exempt up to 90 days in any 180-day period; official passport holders require a visa and may obtain up to 15 days at border crossings |
The exemption attaches to nationality, not to country of residence. A resident of Saudi Arabia holding another nationality is governed by the rule for that nationality. The AI Overview on this query states simply that Saudi citizens may enter visa-free for up to 90 days, and omits both the 180-day window and the citizen-versus-resident distinction. See our guides to the Turkiye visa, e-visa requirements and the route for Saudi residents.
Saudi to Turkey visit visa price
Fees differ by travel document and nationality and are set on the official e-visa portal at the moment of application. We do not reprint a fee figure here, because a fee published in a guide goes stale and the applicant pays whatever the portal charges on the day. The portal is the only correct source.
Passport validity: sixty days, not six months
The legal text, article 7/1/b of Law 6458 as quoted by the Ministry, requires a passport valid for at least sixty days beyond the duration of stay granted by your visa, visa exemption or residence permit. The Ministry separately advises six months' validity from the date of arrival, which is advice rather than the rule. The difference matters: a great many articles present the advice as the law and talk passengers out of flights they are entitled to take.
Is Turkish airspace open, and is my flight cancelled today
These are live-status questions, and an evergreen guide is the wrong place to answer them, because any answer written today may be wrong tomorrow. There are exactly two correct sources: your airline's flight status page, checked by flight number, and the Turkish civil aviation and airport authorities' own notices. We do not republish an airspace or cancellation status here, because publishing a stale one would be worse than publishing none.
What we can tell you is the part that does not change: if a cancellation is caused by circumstances the regulation classes as extraordinary, no compensation is due, but your right to a full refund within seven days or to rerouting under article 9 is not affected by the cause. Care obligations under article 10 also stand regardless of cause. In other words, an extraordinary event removes the compensation, not the refund and not the meal, the phone call or the hotel.
Before you book: five minutes that protect the whole trip
- Check the visa rule by your nationality, not your country of residence.
- Check your passport against the sixty-day rule, not the six-month advice.
- Check the arrival airport code on the ticket before you book the hotel.
- Know whether your carrier is Turkish or foreign, because it decides whether the outbound leg is protected.
- Photograph your boarding pass and any delay notice; it is your only evidence when you claim.
- Read our Turkiye travel insurance guide, because what the regulation does not cover, a policy sometimes does.
In summary
Flights to Turkey from Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf are not one number but three layers: a fixed route with a distance, a duration and an arrival airport; a moving fare that responds to date flexibility rather than luck; and a written legal right that only appears when things go wrong. The third layer is the valuable one and the one every booking page omits: EUR 400 for the band our routes sit in, free care starting at the two-hour mark, a full refund within seven days, and a forty-five minute check-in condition that preserves all of it. Book after you know all three, not before.
