Turkey e-Visa Requirements 2026: The Full Eligible-Country List and Three Conditions
All 48 nationalities the e-Visa is open to, why being on the list is not approval, the purpose limitation that excludes work and study, and the 60-day passport rule with the official arithmetic.
The e-Visa is open to 48 listed nationalities, but listing is not approval — conditions appear inside the portal. It is valid only for tourism or commerce; work and study come from a consulate. And your passport must run 60 days beyond your permitted stay.
| Item | What the official source states |
|---|---|
| Eligible nationalities | 48 countries published on evisa.gov.tr — the list is a gateway, not an approval |
| Common extra condition | A valid Schengen, US, UK or Ireland visa or residence permit, shown after selecting country and document type |
| Purpose limitation | Tourism or commerce only — work and study visas are issued by embassies and consulates |
| Passport validity | Duration of stay + at least 60 days (Law 6458, Art. 7/1/b) — 90-day stay means 150 days of validity |
| Application scope | Individual · family (2–10 people) · group (10–300); tour operators may pay lump sum |
| Travel-document holders | Must obtain a visa from a Turkish mission in advance, regardless of their country’s visa regime |
The first page for "Turkey e-Visa requirements" is mostly the official portal itself — and then a layer of intermediaries that look official and are not. What almost nobody publishes in one place is the thing you actually need first: the complete list of nationalities the e-Visa is open to, and the three conditions that decide whether your application is even the right instrument.
Condition one: is your nationality on the list?
The e-Visa is open only to citizens of the countries published on evisa.gov.tr, and only where they meet the criteria shown after selecting their country and travel-document type. Read live on 22 August 2026, the list runs:
Afghanistan · Algeria · Antigua and Barbuda · Armenia · Bahamas · Bangladesh · Barbados · Bermuda · Bhutan · Cambodia · Cape Verde · Croatia · Dominica · Dominican Republic · East Timor · Egypt · Equatorial Guinea · Estonia · Fiji · Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus · Grenada · Haiti · Hong Kong (BN(O)) · India · Iraq · Jamaica · Latvia · Libya · Lithuania · Maldives · Mauritius · Mexico · Namibia · Nepal · Pakistan · Palestine · Philippines · Saint Lucia · Saint Vincent and the Grenadines · Senegal · Solomon Islands · South Africa · Sri Lanka · Suriname · Taiwan · Vanuatu · Vietnam · Yemen.
Two things follow that catch people out. First, being absent from this list does not mean you need a visa — many nationalities are visa-exempt entirely and have no reason to appear here. Second, being on the list is not approval: several entries carry conditions, most commonly holding a valid Schengen, US, UK or Ireland visa or residence permit, and those conditions appear only inside the portal once you select your country and document type.
Condition two: is your purpose tourism or commerce?
This is the single most consequential line in the whole file, and it comes from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: the e-Visa is only valid when the purpose of travel is tourism or commerce. For other purposes — work and study are named explicitly — visas are issued by Turkish embassies and consulates.
There is no "arrive as a tourist and convert" pathway implied here. Anyone travelling to take up employment or a university place needs the corresponding visa from a mission before departure. The work route is set out in our work permit guide and the study route in the five-step study guide.
Condition three: does your passport clear the 60-day rule?
The legal requirement is set by Article 7/1/b of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection no. 6458, in force since 1 January 2015: your passport or substitute travel document must remain valid for at least 60 days beyond the "duration of stay" granted by your visa, e-Visa, visa exemption or residence permit.
The Ministry gives the arithmetic explicitly:
- A 90-day duration of stay ⟶ passport valid 150 days at entry.
- A 30-day duration of stay ⟶ passport valid 90 days at entry.
Exempt from this article: holders of diplomatic and official passports, and nationals of countries permitted to enter with a national ID under the Council of Europe agreement on the movement of persons. Separately, the Ministry's general advice is a passport valid for six months from the date of arrival — wider than the legal floor, and the safer number to plan around.
What the application itself needs
Beyond the passport-validity rule, the portal's own answer to "what do I need" is deliberately short: depending on your nationality there may be additional requirements, and you are informed of them after selecting your country of travel document and your travel dates. Identity, passport and travel-date details are entered in the form, and the fee is paid by credit or debit card.
Two structural points about the system, from the MFA:
- The e-Visa system was launched on 17 April 2013 and issues a visa in approximately three minutes, available around the clock anywhere with an internet connection.
- Fees obtained via evisa.gov.tr are lower than fees for visas obtained on arrival at Turkish airports. This is the only fee comparison we will publish — the fee schedule on the ministry's own site does not cover every nationality, and the amount that applies to you is shown inside the portal before payment.
Group and family applications
An e-Visa application can be created for an individual, for a family (minimum 2, maximum 10 people) or for a group (minimum 10, maximum 300). Tour operators may apply for group e-Visas and make lump-sum payments. If you are travelling as a household or a party, this is a materially easier route than filing one application at a time.
Travel documents are a different case entirely
A rule that overrides everything above: the Ministry states that holders of a travel document, as opposed to a national passport, need to obtain a visa from Turkish missions beforehand — regardless of the visa regime applied to citizens of that country. If you travel on a travel document, the e-Visa route is closed to you even where your country of issue is on the list.
Telling the portal from a lookalike
The intermediary layer around this query is large and charges multiples of the government fee. Three checks settle it:
- The only electronic visa portal is evisa.gov.tr, on the .gov.tr domain, an application of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye.
- Visa-regime information — including which nationalities are exempt, and on what terms — lives on mfa.gov.tr.
- Anything else is a commercial service. Using one is your choice; just know the fee you pay is not the government fee.
For the nationality-by-nationality position, including exemptions, see the Turkey visa guide. For nationality-specific detail, we also cover residents of Saudi Arabia and Syrian passport holders.
